Welcome Back, Daddy!

Image
First time ng mga bagets na magsundo sa Daddy nila sa airport. Kahit two hours na delayed yung flight, hindi nawala excitement nila.  Buti na lang may Lego blocks sa Terminal 3. They were kept occupied during the long wait.   Sayang, di ko na sila napicture-an nung dumating si Daddy kasi pati ako naoverjoyed. :D:D:D

Jacob's Third Birthday

Image
January 29, 2019. I woke Sofia earlier that usual, so she can prepare for school and still have time to join the birthday surprise for Jacob. Nag-cramming ako ng slight para makabili ng gift and cake. I bought the toy truck last Friday after realizing that I will not have time away from the two kids because my mother-in-law will not be with us during the weekend. And then 'yung cake, I had to buy Monday night eh may offsite meeting pa kami sa Bellevue Hotel. Buti na lang yung cafe ng Bellevue was still open when we finished with the meeting and I was able to buy a cake. Tinago ko pa 'yung cake para lang hindi agad makita ni Jacob pag-uwi ko. Sulit naman ang pagcramming kasi mukhang nasurprise at natuwa naman sya. :D We love you, Jacob!

I was Ten Weeks Pregnant

I was ten weeks pregnant, and it will stay at that. Last March 3, while I was undergoing TVS, my OB's voice changed and said that the baby has no heartbeat. She then explained to me what she was seeing on the ultrasound. It took long for me to process what she was saying. I only heard that the baby did not have a heartbeat. In my mind, I want to get out of bed and go to my husband. I could not accept what my OB was telling me. Finally, she said that she will schedule me for D&C the following Saturday. I felt an emptiness in me. My heart was heavy. I would smile and even laugh, but it felt hollow inside. I would cry in the shower at times, in our bed at night. I tried to hold back tears while I was at work. The following Tuesday, I went to another OB for a second opinion. With deathly finality, she said that the baby has no heartbeat. She wrote down tests I need to take to check the toxicity level in blood. I took the paper, and with shoulders slumped, I left the clinic. ...

Saturday Fun Day

Image
This post is a week late. >.< The whole family woke up a bit early for a Saturday. I prepared a hearty breakfast. I enjoyed cooking even if I am not an expert at it. It's mostly fried rice and fried other food for breakfast. Haha! I feel like a chef with this already. :D After breakfast, I washed the foam of our sofa. My husband warned beforehand, that it might rain, and if the foam doesn't dry up at once, it will smell. I did not heed his advice. It was still sunny that morning. And the kids were enjoying cleaning their bike. So I did not let him stop me. It rained that afternoon! Nakakaloka. Whole weekend ko pinatutuyo yung foam, hindi natuyo. It smelled na rin. I think I'll have to wash it again this weekend. Hopefully, maaraw. :D After I was done with the chores, we got ready to go to SM Trece Martires for the Famous Belgian Waffles store opening which is owned by my officemates. You should try the waffles, guys. they are so good. May savory waff...

The Barracks in Tagaytay

Image
It was a rainy Friday night last week, but it wasn't able to stop us to celebrate a friend's birthday. My husband and I saw The Barracks a few ago, but did not have time to try it out. We decided to go there, and enjoy the night! The place was packed, but we were lucky to get a table for the four us. I was left to man the table while the guys roam around the food park to get the food. Here are the photos of the food they brought back. I think they almost bought from all the stores there. :D Food prices of the food that they ordered ranges from Php130-Php190. Most of the tables there have this. This was good.  Lechon kawali was okay.  This was good.   BBQ was okay.   This was good. You get to choose 2 flavors for your squid.  Blueberry cheesecake was okay. The burger was good. This was only half of the burger that we ordered.   I did not try the pizza. I was already full, but they said this was good, too. A band a...

Japanese Potato Salad Recipe

Image
I have tried the potato salad at Ippon Yari, and I loved it. So I tried researching the recipe for a Japanese potato salad, and I found a simple version. I tried it, and it tasted good. Quarter the potatoes and boil for 15 minutes. Drain the water. Mash the potatoes, but not thoroughly. There should still be chunks visible. Julienne the carrots and blanch. Minced onions. Peel the cucumber and slice thinly. Set aside. Shred the ham. Add all ingredients together. Add the kewpie mayonnaise. Add salt and pepper to taste. Refrigerate for an hour or so. It's that easy. A Visit to the National Museum

Image
Last Saturday, we visited the National Museum. My officemate, who went there previously, confirmed that entrance fee is free. And since it is free, we grabbed the opportunity to visit. It was my dream to have a photo of the Spolarium. Babaw ko, ano? The National Museum is in good condition. There are roving guards everywhere to make sure that no one is touching the displays. Sofia got intrigued with some of the paintings that she touched them and was told by the guards not to. She asked me, " Mommy, bakit lahat no touch? " I told her that those are very important pieces and we must be careful for the paintings not to break or get damaged. She replied, " E 'di lagyan natin ng scotch tape ." Yep, scotch tapes solve all things in the eyes of a child. Hahaha! Sofia enjoyed the open space more than the paintings. She does not appreciate the artworks yet. During our long walk, she also had a bout of stomachache. She was happier seeing benches and chairs for h...

Set aside. Fry the pork on the same pan. Set aside. Put a little salt and pepper on the sesame oil. Layer all ingredients on the lettuce and wrap it. Enjoy! It's that simple. Bareza Travels 2016: Ilocos Sur - Ilocos Norte - Baguio

Image
Hi Everyone, I just want to share some of our latest travel photos: Ilocos Sur - Ilocos Norte - Baguio. Our group was made of 4 adults, 3 kids, and 1 baby. Our trip was for 5 days, 4 nights. The good part of our travel is not everything was planned. We just went were our feet will take us (or the Innova for that matter). :D Day 1 - Vigan, Paoay, Burgos Day 2 - Burgos, Pagudpud, Laoag Day 3 - Laoag, Paoay, Baguio Day 4 - Baguio Day 5 - Baguio Our trip to Ilocos Sur from Cavite only took 8 hours. We left Cavite at 8:00PM and arrived in Vigan at 3:50AM. Too many stories to tell. I do not know which one to tell first. I'll just focus on the highlights. Our plan was to travel Ilocos Sur and Ilocos Norte only for 3 days, 2 nights, but ended going to Baguio and doing 5 days, 4 nights. It was raining in Burgos where we stayed the first day. There were strong winds and the resort's hotel room is not very impressive. It was evident that it was already old. We were sup...

Monday Musings

Image
Hi Everyone, It has been a loooooooooooooong time since my last post. I have been remiss with my blogging duties. Life is back on track now after giving birth to Baby Jacob. The whole family had already adjusted and I think my hormones are not flaring up anymore. You see, after giving birth, there are nights that I would cry. It made me feel guilty because I was supposed to be happy with the new baby, right? I think I was overwhelmed with all the changes and adjustments going on. I missed sleeping with and taking care of my daughter. I was very hands-on with the little one that I was not able to pay much attention to Sofia. I missed my husband because we were not able to do our night walks to the nearby convenience store or even talk.  I went back to work mid-April, and had been very busy since then. My coping mechanism is a bit lousy, but with the support of my husband, I was able to pull through. Now, the new challenge is Sofia going back to school. She is now in...
